More about the trip
It's going to be a busy day,
below is information about things we're doing. Like all our trips, the activities are free or included in the price and you can choose to do as much or as little as you want with us.

The North York Moors
Between the ancient walled city of York and the rocky and wild coastline of North Yorkshire, you’ll find the North York Moors – one of England’s National Parks. We’re going to drive across the vast open moorland (which is beautiful in Autumn!) stopping at the enormous natural amphitheatre, the hole of Horcum (apparently made by a giant!!). On our way home at the end of the day we will also call in at ‘Hogsmeade’ train station where Harry Potter was filmed.

Whitby
A
lot has happened in this small, picturesque North Yorkshire town. It has been home to the Vikings, Captain James Cook (the 18th Century explorer), smugglers and whalers, and according to Bram Stoker's novel, Whitby was the first place in Britain which Dracula visited. When we first arrive in the town, we’ll take you past the old Whitby Abbey, first founded in 657, then through the grave yard of St Mary’s Church, and down the steps to the old town. You’ll understand why the Bramstoker chose W-W-W-Whitby as the setting for Dracula!!

Whitby Gothic Weekend
Because of the Dracula connection, Whitby is also home to the world’s biggest Gothic Weekend! The town is taken over by thousands of Goths from all over the world dressed in outrageous costumes. You’ll see them walking round the old town, playing football, making sandcastles on the beach, and even getting married!! All dressed in black of course!!
