More about the trip

Liverpool European City of Culture 2008
200 hundered years ago, 40% of the world's trade was passing through Liverpool. These days, millions of people are passing through the city because it has been chosen to be the European City of Culture in 2008. To show off its cultural life, all around the city you'll find events covering music, visual arts, performing arts, street theatre, sport, architecture and heritage, and most are FREE! We'll show you where to go and what to see including some of our favourite sculptures.

Tall Ships' Race
The day we visit Liverpool, 70 tall ships will be at port preparing for the Tall Ships Race 2008. Some of the ships are over 40m long and 40m high, with enormous sails. You will be able to climb aboard and find out what life at sea is like as well as hear music, and enjoy performances and displays.

Liverpool Football Club
Liverpool Football Club in the English Premiership are the most successful club in the history of English football - they've won 18 English League titles, 5 European Cups and the FA Cup and League Cup 7 times. They've played at Anfield since 1892, but plans to move to a new stadium in a couple of years will mean this could be your last opportunity to visit this famous stadium and the original 'Kop' - the part of the stadium where the fans could "suck the ball into the goal" if Liverpool were playing towards that end.

The Beatles
The Beatles, one of the most successful bands in history, were from Liverpool. All around the city you'll find connections (which we can show you!) - the Cavern Club, the Cavern Pub, the John Lennon Statue, Lennon's Bar, Eleanor Rigby Statue, and more.
